Stan Musial

The 1952 Bowman, #196, is the most stylish and handsome of all Musial’s cards. Graded 9 (Mint) by PSA, it is the finest example of this card.

Much has been written about Stan Musial since his passing on January 19th .  All of the praise and salutations are well deserved.  If there was a baseball statistic that combined achievement and character, Stan The Man would be number one in that category.

Here’s my tidbit that speaks to The Man’s skills at the plate: there’s only one player in MLB history who leads his franchise in singles, doubles, triples, and home runs – Stan Musial.  Quite a feat when one considers that the Cardinals have been around since 1900 and are arguably the second most successful franchise in baseball (they’ve won 11 World Series, second only to the Yankees’ 27).

Musial is fourth in career hits with 3,630 and had a lifetime batting average of .331
